Impromptu Grammar Lesson

Today my 8yo came to me and said, "I'm hungry." I told him he could have whatever he wanted from the kitchen. He smiled and said, "POPCORN!"
"Except that." I replied.
"So, I can have popcorn?" he asked.
"NO." I told him. "That is what EXCEPT means."
He looked at me confused.
"Accept means yes..."
I explained to him that accept and except are homophones... They sound the same but have very different meanings. It turned into an impromptu grammar lesson. And here I thought I was going to take the week off of school for Thanksgiving.

Happy Turkey Day everyone!!!
