First Day of Co-op #1

This year we are trying something new. We are going to 2 different co-ops every other week. Today was our first day back at our old co-op. I would love to say things went off without a hitch but it was a mess.

I got there early so I could make copies for my class but I realized I had never printed the originals. So I ran home and tried to print them out but my printer refused to print in color. So I took what I could get and drove back to co-op as fast as I could... legally. I had to improvise. I had to use my original as a template to make my copies out of construction paper.

When I got to my classroom, the nursery, I only had 2 students. Only 4 had signed up for the class. I knew one child was absent and the other child was new. I just went on with my lesson as planned. After class ended a friend of mine came in and told me that I had been in the wrong classroom. I had 4 other students who were waiting for me in another room!!! Oh that is a lovely impression to leave on a handful of new moms. *face palm* Sure enough there were schedules hung up all over the school if I had made it past the nursery I would have seen one with my classroom labeled.

Despite the chaos, we all really had a fantastic day. It was so lovely to see our friends. Every time I go to co-op it is like a family reunion. There is so much love and support around every corner. We got to make some new friends too. That is the best thing about being a homeschooler, all the socializing that we get to do.

  • Skittles made a commercial for a cold medicine with a group in his team building class.
  • Twizzler made a scrapbook in his art class.
  • Hershey learned about community helpers. He played catch the robber, a pre-writing page I found online and made a shape firetruck. Then we made an Xray project. I added a bible verse to the Xray that I got out of this Doctor Pack.
  • Skittles and Twizzler played soccer in PE.
  • Hershey and I danced and played the drums in music class.
When we came home, Hershey and I were worn out. He cuddled up in my arms for awhile. Then I put him down for a nap. Skittles and Twizzler did their math, language lessons, and writing. It was a good day.

  1. Oh my goodness! I was cringing as I read this. Haha. I've had my fair share of embarrassing co-op teaching moments, too, involving forgetting to print stuff, barely having a lecture ready, giving multiple choice tests with issues like 2/4 answers being the same thing or no right answer, lol. As much as you try, things just go badly wrong sometimes. :P
